I live in London, UK. When I was much younger I studied Music & Classics.
Landscape photography
The landscape pictures I make can be called 'Walking Past Landscapes'. These are scenes that may not be considered beautiful in themselves, but which, for some reason, today they have engaged my interest. There could be a number of reasons: perhaps there's a sense of vitality or energy, or it's the quality of light, or the play of wind on water, or for reasons perceived unconsciously. Whatever the reasons, the mood & feel are right. I try to keep away from popular locations & never set out with a photo in mind. I do my best to get everything right in-camera, & to do a minimum of processing & retouching afterwards.
Street photography
Street photography tests our perceptive faculties. By their nature, scenes are always fluid, containing a multitude of rhythms in the same space. I try to imagine how a scene may be in two or three seconds' time & aim to capture it. Sometimes I'm lucky. Often the photograph fails because my timing for triggering the shutter was off or I wasn't in the right place in time or hadn't got the camera ready in time. It's curiosity that sparks my interest, & questions: what are the relationships within this group? why does this child find that painting interesting? is the busker aware of all the people who are looking at him? why are these two, clearly together, also ignoring each other? People move on, the questions remain hanging, all that's left is the photo.
Music
For a long time I didn't do any music. But recently I've started again. In the music folder are example pages of scores completed in the last few years, to whet the appetite. Please contact me about these if you'd like to.

Please be aware that I don't check emails every day - that is especially so if I'm away. Please be patient; I will reply.
